TECTYL® 861SGD

TECTYL® 861SGD is a high-performance, solvent-based corrosion preventive compound manufactured by Daubert Chemical Company. Specifically designed to function as a steel mill slushing compound or vanishing oil, this premium thin film rust preventive provides effective protection for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, particularly galvanized steel tubing, sheets, and coils. With its very low viscosity (105 cSt @100°F), TECTYL® 861SGD easily penetrates cracks and crevices to prevent corrosion deep within metal structures during transit and storage, while drying quickly to leave an unblemished surface with a pleasant appearance.

Application Guidelines

TECTYL® 861SGD is formulated to be used as supplied without thinning. Ensure uniform consistency prior to use, though continued stirring is generally not required.

Application Methods:

• Can be applied by dip, spray, brush, or roller techniques
• For optimal results, ensure ambient and product temperature is between 50-95°F at time of application

Equipment Recommendations:

• Pumps: Ratios of 15:1 or greater recommended for efficient use
• Spray Nozzles: Tungsten carbide nozzles with .007″ to .009″ tip orifice size
• Fluid Hose: High-pressure fluid hoses with minimum 3/8 in. diameter for material hoses up to 50 ft, larger for longer distances
• If product thickens due to cold storage or loses solvent during use, contact Daubert Chemical Company—do not thin the product as this will affect film build, dry time, and performance

Storage and Handling

• Store in a cool, dry place away from ignition sources (flash point: 105°F)
• Remove wet or dry film using mineral spirits or citrus-based cleaners
• Primarily designed for indoor applications; not recommended for outdoor use
