Coatings, VCI preventatives and greases that hold up to salt spray, humidity and long layups.
Salt, water and time
Marine equipment is attacked from every side. Salt spray settles on exposed steel and pulls moisture in with it, humidity condenses inside engine rooms and tanks, and boats and rigs sit idle for weeks between jobs. A coating that works in a dry warehouse will fail fast on a dock. These are the three problems we’re asked about most, and what we recommend for each.

01
Salt spray on exposed steel
Chlorides break down thin oils fast. Use a firm wax or solvent-cutback film rated for outdoor exposure on deck hardware, trailers, chain and structural steel. Tectyl 846 Class I and Tectyl 891D are both rated for 2+ years outdoors.

02
Humidity inside enclosed spaces
Engines, gearboxes, tanks and voids sweat every time the temperature swings. Vapor-phase (VCI) and oil-based preventatives reach internal surfaces you can’t get to with a spray gun.

Layup and long storage
When a vessel or rig is laid up, protect it once for the whole idle period. Match the protection time to the layup plan, and grease winches, cranes and fittings before they sit.
