Description

Tectyl 848D HF is a high-performance, solvent-based light oil corrosion preventive compound formulated to provide reliable corrosion protection for ferrous (iron-containing) and non-ferrous (iron-free) metals, particularly for CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machinery parts. Its quick-drying, low-viscosity formula offers exceptional protection during in-plant processing, transit, and storage, making it an ideal solution for short-term rust prevention.

Tectyl 848D HF provides economical and effective short-term rust prevention for your machinery and metal components, making it ideal for indoor storage or transportation where corrosion protection is needed without the risk of flammability.

Key Features:

  • High Flash Point (140°F): The product is formulated with a high flash point of 140°F, significantly reducing the risk of sparks or flammability during use in elevated temperature environments, such as those involving high-temperature machinery.
  • Low Viscosity: Its low viscosity allows for easy application via spray, brush, dip, or roller, even on surfaces with complex shapes or deep crevices.
  • Quick-Drying: Tectyl 848D HF dries rapidly to form a thin, transparent, slightly oily protective film, leaving a non-discernible sheen on metal surfaces.
  • Economical Protection: Provides effective short-term corrosion protection for metal parts, such as gears and blades, offering cost-effective coverage without compromising on performance.

Product Uses:

  • CNC and Machined Parts Protection: Ideal for protecting CNC-type machinery parts like gears and lawn mower blades during processing, shipping, and storage.
  • Ferrous & Non-Ferrous Metals: Suitable for both iron-containing (ferrous) and non-ferrous metals, offering versatile protection for various metal components.
  • Indoor & Undercover Protection: Provides up to 1 year of protection for metal substrates indoors or in covered environments, but is not recommended for outdoor exposure.

Performance & Coverage:

  • Wet Film Thickness: 0.5 mils; Dry Film Thickness (DFT): 0.13 mils.
  • Coverage: 6,600 sq. ft. per gallon when applied at the recommended wet film thickness.
  • Protection Duration: Up to 1 year of indoor or undercover protection at the recommended dry film thickness.

Application Recommendations:

  • Spray, Brush, Dip, or Roller: The product can be applied using various methods, making it flexible for different applications.
  • Pump Ratios: Pumps with a ratio of 10:1 or greater are recommended for efficient use of the product.
  • Spray Nozzles: Tungsten carbide nozzles with a .007″ to .009″ tip orifice size are recommended.
  • Fluid Hose: High-pressure fluid hoses of no less than 3/8 in. diameter should be used for material hoses under 50 ft. in length, with larger hoses for longer distances.
