Product Information
Description
TECTYL 603 is a polymeric, water-emulsifiable corrosion preventive manufactured by Daubert Chemical Company, Inc., designed specifically for providing long-term corrosion protection on phosphated and painted metal parts. This specialized formulation meets the stringent requirements of General Motors 6035-M specification, making it ideal for automotive components such as hinges, bolts, screws, brackets, and fasteners. The product contains a proprietary additive system that creates a durable, self-healing, corrosion-resistant protective film. In its concentrated form, TECTYL 603 appears as an amber liquid, while the cured film is clear and transparent, providing protection without obscuring the appearance of treated components.

Application Guidelines
- Preparation: Charge tank with de-ionized water
- Heating: Begin mixing and bring water temperature to 140-160°F (60-71°C)
- Mixing: Add TECTYL 603 slowly with agitation to develop a 20% emulsion (ALWAYS ADD TECTYL 603 TO WATER, NEVER IN REVERSE ORDER)
- Temperature Control: Maintain emulsion temperature at 140-160°F (60-71°C) during initial fill and application
- Agitation: Ensure continuous mechanical agitation (not air) at all times
- Application Method: Primarily applied via dipping operation
- Substrate Requirements: Maximum protection is achieved only when applied to properly phosphated components (2,000-3,000 milligrams of zinc phosphate per square foot per GM 6035-M specification)
Equipment Recommendations:
- Dipping tanks with temperature controls
- Mechanical agitation systems
- pH and concentration monitoring equipment
Storage and Handling
- System Maintenance: Check pH and emulsion concentration at least once daily
- Technical Support: Refer to Technical Bulletin #29 for complete maintenance and handling procedures
- Chemical Compatibility: The addition of any product over or under this coating is not recommended as it may cause chemical incompatibility
- Safety Precautions: Refer to Daubert’s Material Safety Data Sheet for complete health and safety information
- Authorization: Written authorization must be obtained from Daubert Chemical Company if a product other than their recommended product is required for use with TECTYL 603
