Description
TECTYL 517 is a military-grade cold application corrosion preventive compound manufactured by Daubert Chemical Company, specifically formulated for rustproofing transportation equipment in the US Military. This premium product meets Military Specification A-A-59295 (which superseded MIL-C-83933 and MIL-C-62218) for both Type 1 and Type 2 applications. With its calcium sulfonate base and thixotropic properties, TECTYL 517 creates a durable, semi-firm, black protective film that provides exceptional corrosion resistance and electrical insulation properties for metal surfaces exposed to harsh environments.

Application Guidelines
- Can be applied using conventional rustproofing equipment
- Recommended application with a 10:1 airless pump or greater that can deliver 800-1200 psi
- Optimal spray application using a 0.017″ to 0.025″ reverse-a-clean tip
- Recommended ambient and product temperature: 50-95°F at time of application
- Apply at 12-14 mils wet film thickness to achieve 5-6 mils dry film thickness
- Allow 4 hours for weatherproof protection and 24 hours for full cure
Storage and Handling
- Store in original containers at recommended temperatures
- Removal of wet and dry film using mineral spirits or citrus-based cleaners
