Application Guidelines

TECTYL® 5164 can be applied by airless spray for optimal results:

Equipment Recommendations:

  • Daubert recommends a 15:1 airless pump or greater that can deliver 800-1200 psi
  • Use a 0.017 to 0.025 reverse-a-clean tip for best application
  • Product should be applied at temperatures above 50°F to allow for proper film formation

Application Parameters:

  • Apply at recommended wet film thickness of 20-30 mils to achieve 10-15 mils dry film thickness
  • Expected coverage: 53-80 square feet per gallon at recommended thickness
  • Allow 4 hours for complete curing under normal conditions
  • Product becomes impervious to water after just 1 hour

Durability and Performance:

  • Accelerated corrosion tests show excellent performance in demanding conditions
  • Provides 5 years of protection in both indoor and outdoor environments when properly applied
  • Excellent adhesion to properly prepared surfaces

Storage and Handling

  • Product is supplied in totes and open head drums
  • Both wet and dry film can be removed with mineral spirits or citrus-based cleaners
