Description
TECTYL® 5164 is a premium asphalt-based, long-term rust preventive coating manufactured by Daubert Chemical Company, developed as a derivative of military-grade technology for automotive industry applications. This viscous, thixotropic formulation dries to a firm, pliable, semi-gloss black film, making it particularly suitable for undercoating transportation equipment. Meeting Federal Specification TT-C-520B, TECTYL® 5164 provides an exceptional balance of long-term corrosion protection with the handling convenience of a paint-like film, delivering industrial-strength protection while being easy to apply and maintain.

Application Guidelines
TECTYL® 5164 can be applied by airless spray for optimal results:
Equipment Recommendations:
- Daubert recommends a 15:1 airless pump or greater that can deliver 800-1200 psi
- Use a 0.017 to 0.025 reverse-a-clean tip for best application
- Product should be applied at temperatures above 50°F to allow for proper film formation
Application Parameters:
- Apply at recommended wet film thickness of 20-30 mils to achieve 10-15 mils dry film thickness
- Expected coverage: 53-80 square feet per gallon at recommended thickness
- Allow 4 hours for complete curing under normal conditions
- Product becomes impervious to water after just 1 hour
