TECTYL 511M Class I is a high-performance, solvent-based corrosion preventive compound manufactured by Daubert Chemical Company, specifically formulated to meet Military Specification MIL-PRF-16173E, Grade 5, Class 1. This specialized product creates a semi-firm, oily, light amber protective film that provides exceptional water-displacing properties and long-term corrosion protection for both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The Class 1 designation indicates a conventional formulation that exceeds 2.8 lbs/gallon VOC content, offering maximum protection for applications where environmental regulations permit.

Application Guidelines
- Preferred application method is dipping, though brush and spray methods are also effective
- Recommended ambient and product temperature: 50-95°F (10-35°C) at time of application
- Apply at 1 mil wet film thickness for optimal protection
- For spray application:
- Use pumps with ratios of 15:1 or greater
- Recommended tungsten carbide nozzles (.011″ to .015″ tip orifice)
- Use high-pressure fluid hoses (minimum 3/8-inch diameter)
Storage and Handling
- Store in original containers at recommended temperatures
- Do not spray on intake manifolds or fuel system components to avoid damage to sensors or valves
- Suitable for application in intake and exhaust ports, as well as manifolds
- Removal using solvent-based thinner, vapor degreasing, hot alkaline wash, or low-pressure steam

Product Applications
Preferred application for the Tectyl 511M solvent-based, rust preventative product is dipping. This product can also be applied by brush or spray. Daubert Chemical Company recommends that the ambient and product temperature be 50 - 95°F (10 - 35°C) at time of application.
