TECTYL 506 is a versatile solvent cutback corrosion preventive coating manufactured by Daubert Chemical Company, designed to provide reliable long-term protection for metal surfaces against environmental corrosion. This widely used rustproofing solution creates a firm, amber, translucent film that effectively shields metal components from moisture, salt, and weathering. Part of Daubert’s legacy “506” product line of long-term rust preventative coatings, TECTYL 506 delivers significant outdoor protection for metal parts exposed to a variety of environmental elements during storage or shipping.

Application Guidelines
- Product is formulated to be used as supplied
- Ensure uniform consistency prior to use (continued stirring generally not required)
- Can be applied by brush, spray, or dip methods
- Film thickness specifications are based on dip application
- For optimal spray application:
- Use pumps with ratios of 15:1 or greater
- Recommended tungsten carbide nozzles (.015″ to .019″ tip orifice)
- Use high-pressure fluid hoses (minimum 3/8-inch diameter)
- If product thickens due to cold storage or loss of solvent, Daubert Chemical recommends using aliphatic solvents such as mineral spirits
Storage and Handling
- Store in original containers at recommended temperatures
- Removal of wet and dry film using mineral spirits or citrus-based cleaners
- Alternative removal methods include hot alkaline wash or low-pressure steam
- Provides up to 3 years of indoor storage protection
- Delivers up to 1.5 years of outdoor exposure protection under proper conditions
