Product Information
Description
TECTYL® 4110 is a premium petroleum-based rust preventive lubricant manufactured by Daubert Chemical Company, specifically designed for wire ropes and cables. This specialized formulation provides exceptional protection against corrosion in environments with high humidity and salt air, creating a thin, firm, black, wax-like film that effectively shields metal surfaces from oxygen and moisture-based corrosion. Free of Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), this environmentally friendly product is particularly effective for the fabrication of wire rope and cables, where it can be heated and applied through hot dip application to ensure comprehensive protection from the core outward.

Key Features
- Rust Inhibiting and Lubricating: Enhances lubrication for stranding wires and cables while providing superior corrosion resistance, especially in high humidity and salt air environments
- Non-Oxidizing Formula: Creates a wax-like film that will not oxidize, ensuring long-term protection
- Hot Dip Application: Designed to be heated to 185°F minimum and pumped over stranding wires before entering forming dies
- Environmentally Friendly: Formulated with zero VOCs and free from HAPs, making it a safe choice for industrial applications
- Self-Healing Characteristics: The lubricant film has self-healing properties, maintaining its protective function even after minor damage
- Extreme Temperature Performance: Maintains flexibility at low temperatures with cold bend rating of -20°F
- High Heat Resistance: Flash point of 500°F ensures safe operation in high-temperature applications
- Extended Protection Period: Provides protection ranging from 1-2 years outdoors to 5-10 years indoors
Ideal Applications
Wire and Cable Industry:
- Stranding wires used in the production of wire ropes and cables
- Lubrication during the stranding process and protection of wire surfaces
- Crane ropes, mining hoist ropes, shovel ropes, and ropes in submerged service
- Core saturation and outer surface sealing during manufacturing
Metal Fabrication:
- Hot dip application for metal components requiring both lubrication and corrosion protection
- Protection of precision metal parts during storage and shipment
- Machinery components exposed to corrosive environments
Industrial Applications:
- General-purpose wire rope compound for various industrial sectors
- Equipment operating in marine or high humidity environments
- Components requiring long-term corrosion prevention with self-healing protection
Application Guidelines
Application Method:
- Hot dip application at temperatures between 180° to 200°F (minimum 185°F)
- Typically applied during the stranding or closing process via flood application
- Can also be applied using dip application
- Product should be pumped over stranding wires just prior to entering forming die on strander
Equipment Recommendations:
- Suitable heating equipment to maintain consistent temperature
- Appropriate pumping system to ensure even application
- Dipping tanks or applicators designed for hot application processes
Protection Duration (Typical Values):
- Outdoor Storage (uncovered): 1-2 years
- Shed Storage (outdoor covered): 2-5 years
- Indoor Storage: 5-10 years
