Application Guidelines

TECTYL® 4033 is formulated to be used as supplied without thinning. This water-based coating requires specific handling and application considerations.

Surface Preparation:

  • For maximum performance, metal surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of rust, oil, and mill scale
  • Recommended substrate temperature during application: 50-95°F (10-35°C)

Application Methods:

  • Can be applied by airless spray
  • For optimal results, ensure ambient and product temperature is between 50-95°F (10-35°C) at time of application

Equipment Recommendations:

  • Airless pumps with ratios of 10:1 or greater
  • Deliver 80-120 psi to a 0.017-0.025 reverse-a-clean tip for efficient application

Important Notes:

  • If product thickens due to cold storage or loss of water during use, contact Daubert Chemical Company
  • DO NOT THIN the product as incorrect thinning will affect film build, dry time, and performance
  • Water-based formula should not be exposed to freezing conditions
  • The addition of any product over or under this coating is not recommended due to potential chemical incompatibility

Storage and Handling

  • Store at temperatures between 50-95°F (10-35°C)
  • Mild agitation is recommended prior to use
  • Protect from freezing temperatures
  • Adequate ventilation is required for cure
  • The partially cured film should not be exposed to ignition sources such as flares, flames, sparks, excessive heat, or torches
  • Can be removed with TECTYL® HPS solventborne thinner, vapor degreasing, hot alkaline wash, or low-pressure steam
  • Can be removed from fabrics by normal dry cleaning procedures
  • Avoid using chlorinated or highly aromatic solvents when removing from painted surfaces, as these solvents may adversely affect paint
  • Refer to Daubert’s Material Safety Data Sheet for complete health and safety instructions
