Product Information
Description
TECTYL® 3335 Black is a premium, environmentally friendly, water-based corrosion preventive coating manufactured by Daubert Chemical Company. This paintable chip-resistant underbody coating is specifically formulated to provide exceptional protection against rust, corrosion, chipping, scratching, and gravel impacts typically experienced on truck and trailer underbodies. With nearly zero VOC content (0.04 lbs/gal) and free from Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPS), it delivers high-performance protection while minimizing environmental impact. Beyond physical protection, this coating also functions as an effective sound dampening solution, reducing sheet metal resonance and structural borne noise while providing significant corrosion inhibition for both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Application Guidelines
TECTYL® 3335 Black should be applied using conventional underbody rustproofing equipment. For optimal performance:
- Recommended Equipment: 10:1 airless pump or greater that can deliver 800-1200 psi to a .017 to 0.025 reverse-a-clean tip
- Enhanced Equipment Options: Pumps with ratios of 15:1 or greater for more efficient application
- Spray Distance Capacity: Low-ratio pumps (15-30:1) can operate through up to 150 ft. of hose, while high-ratio pumps (>30:1) can operate through up to 250 ft. of hose
- Hose Requirements: High-pressure fluid hoses should be at least 3/8 in. in diameter
- Nozzle Recommendations: Tungsten carbide nozzles with a .019″ to .023″ tip orifice size
- Application Temperature: Apply at temperatures above 50°F to allow for proper film formation
- Surface Preparation: Ensure substrate is clean and appropriately prepared
- Drying Time: Dries to handle within 1 hour, fully cured in 72 hours
Storage and Handling
- Temperature Sensitivity: DO NOT FREEZE – This product is water-based and is not freeze/thaw stable
- Critical Warning: Exposure to temperatures below 32°F will result in severe damage to the product
- Application Conditions: The dry time depends on temperature, relative humidity, and air circulation
- Substrate Temperature: Do not apply to a substrate below 50°F
- Freezing Precautions: Wet films should not be exposed to freezing temperatures without sufficient dry times
- Cleaning: Can be removed when wet (within 20 minutes) using soap and water
- Safety Information: Consult the SDS for additional safety information and handling recommendations
- Shelf Life: Product has a shelf life of 1 year when properly stored
