Product Information
Description
Tectyl 3334M Gray is a water-based, chip-resistant underbody coating manufactured by Daubert Chemical Company. This high-performance protective coating is specifically designed to provide excellent resistance to chipping, scratching, and gravel impacts commonly experienced on truck and trailer underbodies. With its abrasion-resistant formulation, Tectyl 3334M Gray offers superior adhesion, hardness, and durability to various substrates including primers, e-coat, and lightly oiled steel. Beyond its protective qualities, this coating also functions as an effective sound dampener, reducing sheet metal resonance and structural-borne noise. The product’s water-based composition provides environmental advantages with extremely low VOC content while delivering impressive corrosion protection.

Ideal Applications
Automotive and Transportation Equipment
- Truck and trailer underbodies – Primary application for protection against stone chips
- Wheel wells and fender liners – Areas prone to road debris impact
- Frame rails and chassis components – For abrasion and corrosion protection
- Rocker panels – To protect against stone chipping and road salt
- Floor pans – For sound dampening and corrosion protection
- Commercial fleet vehicles – As preventative maintenance coating
Sound Dampening Applications
- Vehicle passenger compartments – To reduce road noise transmission
- Interior floor panels – For noise reduction while providing abrasion resistance
- Sheet metal panels – To reduce vibration and resonance
- Firewalls and bulkheads – To minimize noise transfer between compartments
Industrial Applications
- Transportation equipment – Where gray color is preferred for visibility or aesthetics
- Agricultural equipment – For protection against rock and debris impact
- Construction equipment – To protect vulnerable underbody components
Application Guidelines
- Apply at temperatures above 50°F to allow for proper film formation
- Use conventional underbody rustproofing equipment (10:1 airless pump or greater)
- Equipment should deliver 800-1200 psi to a .017 to 0.025 reverse-a-clean tip
- Apply to clean surfaces including primers, e-coat, and lightly oiled steel
- DO NOT FREEZE – this water-based product is not freeze/thaw stable
- Exposure to temperatures below 32°F will result in severe damage to the product
- The wet films should not be exposed to freezing temperatures without sufficient dry time
This product is part of Daubert’s comprehensive line of underbody coatings and can be recoated with most urethane, acrylic, or alkyd resin formulated automotive topcoats to provide additional protection or desired finish.
