Description
TECTYL® 300G Clear is a premium low-VOC, water-based polymer dispersion rust preventive coating manufactured by Daubert Chemical Company. This specialized protective coating provides a layer of corrosion protection for both ferrous and non-ferrous metals that can function as either a standalone coating or a base-layer primer that can be painted over. With its light amber liquid appearance that dries to a transparent, amber-colored, waxy, semi-firm film, TECTYL® 300G Clear is ideal for complex shapes and industrial components where maintaining the visual appearance of the substrate is desired while providing excellent protection. The resulting dry film leaves no residue when touched, making coated goods easy to handle during sorting and stacking activities in manufacturing environments.

Application Guidelines
TECTYL® 300G Clear is suitable for industrial components and is best applied by dipping, though it can also be sprayed:
- Application Methods: Can be dipped or sprayed using conventional or HVLP spray gun, or airless spray
- Surface Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from rust, oil, and mill scale
- Temperature Conditions: Apply at temperatures above 50°F and below 95°F (10-35°C) to allow for proper film formation
- Film Formation: Apply to achieve recommended wet film thickness of 6-8 mils, which will result in 1.5-2 mils (40-50 microns) dry film thickness
- Dry Time: Touch dry in 30-50 minutes at 20°C; fully cured within 24 hours
- Topcoating: Can serve as a base-layer primer for additional paint applications (test compatibility first)
- Handling: Once cured, the film leaves no residue when touched, facilitating easy handling
Storage and Handling
- Temperature Sensitivity: These products are water-based and should not be exposed to freezing conditions
- Storage Temperature: Daubert recommends storing above 40°F and below 100°F (10-35°C)
- Removal When Wet: Can be removed with soap and water up to 30 minutes after application
- Removal When Dry: Not intended for removal once fully cured
- Safety Precautions: Use in well-ventilated areas; refer to the SDS for detailed handling recommendations
- Container Management: Keep containers sealed when not in use
- Flash Point Awareness: Note the flash point of 136°F (47°C) for proper safety measures during storage and handling
- Environmental Benefits: Low-VOC formula for reduced environmental impact
Product Applications
TECTYL® 300G CLEAR and TECTYL® 300G BLACK are suitable for industrial components and is best applied by dipping or spraying using conventional or HLVP spray gun.
