Description
TECTYL® 283S17HF is a premium solvent-based, water-displacing thin film rust preventive oil manufactured by Daubert Chemical Company. This specialized protective coating is formulated with aliphatic solvents to provide effective short to medium-term corrosion protection while functioning as a lubricant and penetrant. With its low viscosity properties, TECTYL® 283S17HF easily penetrates cracks and crevices while displacing moisture from metal surfaces. Upon drying, it forms an ultra-light, transparent, non-staining oily film that provides reliable protection for both ferrous and non-ferrous metals during indoor storage and domestic shipment. This product is approved by Hamilton Sunstrand Engineering Standard MS02.43 Rev AF, ensuring it meets stringent industry requirements.

Application Guidelines
TECTYL® 283S17HF is formulated to be used as supplied without additional thinning or modification:
- Application Methods: Commonly applied by spray or dip methods
- Surface Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from rust, oil, and mill scale
- Preparation: Ensure uniform consistency prior to use
- Stirring Requirements: Continued stirring is generally not required
- Temperature Conditions: Recommended ambient and product temperature of 50-95°F (10-35°C) at time of application
- Thinning: DO NOT THIN – Incorrect thinning will affect film build, dry time, and product performance
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation during application and curing
Storage and Handling
