Description

TECTYL® 275 is a premium solvent-based, water-displacing thin film rust preventive oil and lubricant manufactured by Daubert Chemical Company. This specialized protective coating is formulated with aliphatic solvents to provide effective corrosion protection while simultaneously suppressing and removing fingerprints from metal surfaces. With its low viscosity properties, TECTYL® 275 easily penetrates cracks, crevices, and tight spaces, preventing corrosion deep within metal structures while leaving a light, transparent protective film. Meeting Military Specification MIL-C-15074E standards, this product delivers reliable protection against humidity and environmental exposure while providing lubrication for moving parts and components.

Application Guidelines

TECTYL® 275 is formulated to be used as supplied without additional thinning or modification:

  • Surface Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from rust, oil, and mill scale for optimal performance
  • Application Methods: Can be applied by dip, brush, or spray
  • Preparation: Ensure uniform consistency prior to use
  • Stirring Requirements: Continued stirring is generally not required
  • Temperature Conditions: Recommended ambient and product temperature of 50-95°F (10-35°C) at time of application
  • Thinning: DO NOT THIN – Incorrect thinning will affect film build, dry time, and product performance
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation during application and curing to prevent the formation of combustible vapors
  • Thickening Issues: If product thickens due to cold storage or loss of solvent during use, contact Daubert Chemical Company

Storage and Handling

  • Temperature Control: Store at moderate temperatures between 50-95°F (10-35°C)
  • Shelf Life: Best used within 36 months from date of manufacture when stored under proper conditions
  • Appearance Monitoring: Maintain the light amber appearance and flow characteristics
  • Removal: Can be removed with mineral spirits or citrus-based cleaners
  • Safety Precautions: Refer to SDS for handling recommendations and safety requirements
  • Container Management: Keep containers sealed when not in use to prevent solvent loss
  • Flash Point Awareness: Note the flash point of 142°F for proper safety measures during storage and handling
  • Performance Testing: Provides protection for up to 3 years in indoor storage conditions

Product Applications

This product may all be applied by spray or dip. Daubert Chemical Company recommends that the ambient and product temperature be 50 - 95°F (10 - 35°C) at time of application.
