Description

Tectyl 121B is a solvent-based, thixotropic corrosion preventive compound designed primarily for undercoating transportation equipment. Upon curing, it forms a firm, black, resilient film that is both abrasion-resistant and provides sound-deadening properties.

Key Features

  • Corrosion Protection: Offers robust protection against rust and corrosion, making it suitable for automotive underbodies and other transportation equipment.
  • Abrasion Resistance: The cured film is resilient and resistant to abrasion, ensuring durability in harsh conditions.
  • Sound Deadening: Provides sound-deadening properties, reducing noise associated with vehicle operation.

Technical Specifications

  • Appearance: Black, thixotropic liquid; forms a firm, black film upon curing.
  • Non-Volatile Content: Approximately 62% by weight; 50% by volume.
  • Specific Gravity: 1.02 at 60°F (15.6°C).
  • Weight per Gallon: 8.5 ± 0.1 lbs. at 77°F (25°C).
  • Flash Point: Minimum 106°F (Penske Martin Closed Cup).
  • Recommended Dry Film Thickness: 15–20 mils.
  • Theoretical Coverage: Approximately 45.82 sq. ft./gallon at the recommended dry film thickness.
