Application Guidelines
- Surface Preparation: Metal surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of rust, oil, and mill scale
- Temperature Range: Substrate temperature should be 50-95°F (10-35°C) at the time of application
- Product Preparation: Use as supplied; ensure uniform consistency prior to use
- Stirring Requirements: Continued stirring generally not required
- Application Methods: Can be applied by airless spray, conventional spray, or brush
- Ambient Conditions: Apply when ambient and product temperature is 50-95°F (10-35°C)
- Thinning: DO NOT THIN TECTYL 1422 S Black; incorrect thinning will affect film build, dry time, and product performance
- Cold Storage Issues: If product thickens due to cold storage or loss of solvent during use, contact Daubert Chemical Company
Equipment Recommendations:
- Pump Ratios:
- Low Ratio: 23-30:1, maximum hose length of 150 ft
- High Ratio: >40:1, maximum hose length of 250 ft
- Spray Gun Nozzles: Tungsten carbide tips with .013″ to .019″ orifice size
- Fluid Hoses: Minimum diameter of 3/8 inch, less than 50 ft for optimal flow
- Fluid Pressure: 1800-2400 psi required for efficient application
- Conventional Spray Equipment: Suitable for detailed applications
